Let’s explore how Viboh revolutionizes physiotherapy with passion, innovation and personalized care in Croatia’s leading healthcare clinic!

Can you tell us about your journey in physiotherapy and what inspired you to establish the Medical Body Balance Clinic?

I was born in 1983 in Pakrac, where I completed Secondary Medical School, and then I continued my education in Zagreb. After finishing a specialist graduate professional study at the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb and a university graduate study in physiotherapy at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka, I continued to further my education and am currently PhD student at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University in Zagreb. I constantly improve myself and participate in numerous congresses, courses, and symposiums. So far, I have completed 75 informal postgraduate courses, participated in about twenty congresses and symposiums, and authored several scientific papers. I have specialized in various manual therapy techniques such as Kaltenborn/Evjenth, myofascial therapy, DNS (dynamic neuromuscular stabilization), Kinesio taping, dry needling, medical flossing, and IASTM.

I apply my knowledge and skills daily at the Medical Body Balance Clinic, which I founded and where I work as CEO and chief physiotherapist. I am personally involved in most of the training organized and conducted by our clinic. I find great satisfaction in exchanging knowledge and experiences with fellow physiotherapists. In such professional exchanges, new and better ideas on how we can solve our patients’ problems always emerge. I believe that there is no upper limit and that I can always improve in my work. I have strived for this throughout my entire professional career. I founded my first private practice in 2009.

As the Chief Physiotherapist, what unique methodologies or treatments do you implement in your clinic that set you apart from others?

Our clinic’s expert team includes specialists in physical medicine, orthopaedics, traumatology, and highly trained physiotherapists and Kinesio therapists, offering a full range of physiotherapy techniques. Collaborating daily with various medical experts, we are a leading clinic for sports injuries and spine issues in Croatia.

Spanning 650 square meters, the clinic features cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. With over 21,000 satisfied patients and 40,000 decompression therapies completed in the last seven years, we pride ourselves on our success.

We provide services such as physical and manual therapy, orthopaedics, spinal decompression, gait analysis, custom insoles, and specialize in treating headaches, dizziness, and vertigo, particularly related to cervical spine and inner ear issues. We’ve successfully treated over 1,000 cases of dizziness and 500 headache cases, and continue to publish professional articles on these conditions.

How has your experience working with professional athletes, such as those in the Croatian tennis team (Davis Cup), shaped your practice and the services you offer?

At our clinic, we collaborate with numerous athletes, including members of the Croatian Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams, as well as working with Donna Vekić, Borna Ćorić, and many other athletes. I’m the official physiotherapist for our Davis Cup and BJKC teams for many years, collaborating with Borna Ćorić for eight years and with tennis player Donna Vekić for six years. Donna won a silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games 2024. In 2018, Croatia won the Davis Cup, as well as silver and gold medals at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

In the clinic we are engaged in comprehensive diagnostics and therapy, using the latest methods and technologies to provide each patient with the best possible service and to assist them in their recovery and maintenance of health.

Our patients are individuals who suffer from musculoskeletal issues and postural disorders. Some of the common diagnoses we encounter daily include disc herniations, sciatica, vertebral dysfunction, nerve impingement, calcifications, headaches, dizziness, and various sports injuries such as muscle and meniscus ruptures, jumper’s knee, and tennis elbow. We also frequently conduct rehabilitation after surgeries on the knee, spine, hip, or shoulder, including hip endoprosthesis.

Can you share a specific success story from your clinic that highlights the impact of your work on a patient’s recovery?

There are truly many beautiful and successful stories. Patients come to us for a second opinion from all parts of Croatia. Most often, they come based on recommendations from other patients for whom we have treated vertigo, headaches, and more severe forms of disc herniation. With decompression therapy, we have treated many patients and have postponed the surgical procedures. This is success. We are the only clinic in Zagreb that treats headaches caused by the cervical spine using a combination of manual techniques and specialized methods. We have many patients for whom we have resolved mysterious vertigo or benign positional vertigo in just one treatment. By combining manual therapy, physical therapy, spinal decompression therapy, and targeted exercises, we treat and alleviate painful conditions throughout the musculoskeletal system. A multidisciplinary approach is the highlight of healing.

What advice would you give to young ambitious physiotherapists who want to make an impact in the healthcare industry?

I always emphasize to my team of physiotherapists the importance of continuous education and professional development, which are essential in the healthcare industry due to the daily emergence of new situations and symptoms brought by our patients, as well as the development of new technologies. Knowledge is really power. You will leave a mark in our industry only if you are unique in what you do and how you do it, with enthusiasm and expertise. Efficiency and effectiveness in business, as well as successfully running a clinic, lie in trust from the director towards the entire management and professional team, and mutual trust in the therapist-patient relationship. If you want to leave a mark, you need to be successful, and to be successful, you must have serious work, discipline, and knowledge behind you. To the young people who are still studying to become physiotherapists, I say: believe in your dreams.

What challenges have you faced in the healthcare sector in Croatia, and how have you dealt with obstacles in your career? Looking ahead, what are your future goals for Medical Body Balance clinic, and how do you envision the development of physiotherapy in Croatia?

The challenges we face daily include how to effectively and quickly resolve our patients’ conditions. One of the difficulties encountered by many entrepreneurs is finding quality staff, given the current issue of young people leaving Croatia in search of jobs abroad.

In terms of the healthcare sector, improving the operations of private clinics, increasing efficiency, quality, and accessibility of private healthcare is on the rise. Personally, I believe there are no insurmountable obstacles.

Private care fundamentally changes how institutions are managed, prevents disease, and treats patients. The overwhelming workload of state hospitals and waiting lists burden the system, impacting citizens’ health, leading more people to turn to private institutions for their own health and proper treatment.

Due to the faster results in treatment, potential injury prevention, and the financial sustainability of the clinic I manage, the obstacles of running a private system and care, alongside implementing health strategies and plans to address future challenges, are reduced through excellent strategic planning. It is possible to stop and reverse negative health trends, and our patients recognize this by placing their trust and, most importantly, their health in our safe and expert hands.
